What we know so far on Lydia Achieng’s case
Lydia Achieng’ was sentenced to 10 years in prison on accusation of having defiled a 13-year old boy.
The lady, whose jail term is coming to an end soon, opened up during an interview with a local TV station. During the interview, she explained on how she was wrongfully accused and sentenced, an interview that thereafter went viral and attracted responses from netizens and DPP.
According to Lydia Achieng, she was jailed for 10 years despite her accuser having withdrawn the case against her.
Court records seen by the Standard, indicate that Lydia Achieng was involved in a bar fight over a man with Sophia (the complainant).
In her interview, Lydia Achieng says that the complainant (Sophia) had vowed to frame her up in a serious allegation.
In the case against Lydia Achieng’, the 13-year old son of Sophia was among the witnesses who testified. The boy testified of how Lydia lured him three times for sex.

The DPP did not take this lying down. He came up to state that despite the case having been held while he wasn’t in office, he ordered investigations into the matter again and found that Lydia Achieng’ was rightfully sentenced. He says that her interview was a fabrication of facts.
