According to sources, Hon. Tuju has been executive orders from President Kenyatta, pointing to the growing rift between the President and his Deputy.

Start of this week, Tuju issued a Jubilee statement to “set the record straight” on ODM withdrawing from the Wajir West parliamentary by-election.

According to Tuju, the decision for the ODM candidate to withdraw from the race culminated from “high-level consultations between Raila Odinga and the President.”

On the other hand, DP Ruto’s allies had stated that the ODM candidate withdrew from the race after consultations with DP Ruto. They thus perceived Tuju’s statement as contradicting the Deputy President and thus sabotaging his party leader.

“We, as leaders from the region do not condone deceit and/or conmanship. The decision had nothing to do with the ODM party or any of its functionaries, as some would allege,” stated Wajir leaders who were in support of DP Ruto.

“It was actually the DP who reached out to this candidate and the leaders of Wajir to broker the deal. Raila had nothing to do with the consultations. The consultations were at the DP level,” National Assembly Majority Whip and Mumias East MP Benjamin Washiali stated.
