Wajir Governor spends Ksh 40 million on homecoming

It has been a court battle for months that eventually ended with what was deemed a controversial ruling by the Supreme Court that rubber-stamped the victory of Wajir Governor Abdi Mohamud. Today, the governor has thrown a homecoming party that is estimated to have eaten up Ksh 40 million.

The academic qualifications of the Wajir Governor had been questioned that almost led to him losing his gubernatorial seat.

Among guests at the homecoming are top Somali-born artiste, Farxiya Fiska, with a host of other local artistes. The budget of the event stands at about Ksh 40 million.

County Director of Communications, Ahmed Hussein, when pressed hard for details on the said budget, he termed it as ‘least budget meant for facilitation.’

The event is dubbed Wajir Thanks Giving and Building Bridges Ceremony’ and has a host of the who is who in attendance including seven governors, three Cabinet Secretaries and over 30 MPs. The chief guest will be Council of Governors Chairman Wycliffe Oparanya.
