Sony Sugar FC fails to honor the fixture as AFC Leopards goes on top of the table
Kenya Premier League side Sony Sugar FC on Saturday failed to show up for a league match against AFC Leopards.
The match that was slated for Green Stadium Awendo, saw the home side team Sony not honoring the fixture.
AFC Leopards through its official social media pages the club alleged that Ingwee players plus the technical bench were also denied access to the stadium.
“Chronology of events. 1100hrs The hosts SoNy Sugar FC fail to honour the mandatory pre – match meeting ahead of our KPL match against them. 1200hrs We are barred from accessing the stadium 1328hrs. The hosts (Song Sugar FC) still haven’t availed themselves.” Said Ingwee.
It is believed that the millers are strugling financially a matter that has forced them to skip the match.
Sony sponsor deal
The Awendo based team had signed a KSh34 million sponsorship deal with a Hong Kong-based IT firm, Quantdragon Limited, but no single cent has been deposited in their account.
Leopards on the hand are waiting for official communication from KPL on the way forward about the match.

KPL Policy on failure or refusal to honour KPL matches a club which fails to honour a match for a first offence risk being fined Ksh.500,000 and loses the match.
Kenya Premier League teams are facing financial strains after the exit of betting firms as the official sponsors.
Earlier last week, Gor Mahia players went on a go slow ahead of their league match against KCB at Machakos demanding salaries and allowances from August.
On Wednesday AFC Leopards players refused to train ahead of their game against Sony Sugar on Saturday afternoon. They too have not been paid salaries and allowances for two months.
