Sonko donates Ksh 1 million to Gor Mahia

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has donated Ksh 1 million to the financially struck Gor Mahia.

The Governor issued the money specifically for the players after they were stranded for their CAF Confederations Cup clash with RS Berkane here in Morocco.

According to Citizen Digital Sonko deposited Ksh 500,000 million on Gor Mahia captain Harun Shakava via Western Union on behalf of the team.

Sonko promised to hand over the remaining amount to the team when they return bank to the account.

Sonko revealed that he was approached to help the Kenyan champions so as to boost their morale.

“Gor Mahia is a club representing Kenya. It is unfortunate that they had travel challenges. I was requested to boost their morale ahead of the game tonight, so I have sent the players 1 million shillings. It doesn’t matter if they win or lose tonight, they are our team in the competition,”Sonko said.
