Rogue Kamukunji police officer

Director of Criminal Investigation(DCI) on Tuesday arrested a police officer for allegedly shooting a colleague.

Abel Musati a police attached to Kamukunji Police Station is accused of firing at his colleague and aiding a suspect to escape. 

According to a statement from DCI Hillary Korir a traffic police deployed at General Waruinge road near Starehe Boys Centre intercepted a 14-Seater matatu, operating without clearance from the Transport Board (TLB).

The Traffic Officer PC Hillary Korir had been deployed at General Waruinge road near Starehe Boys Centre, where upon inspecting a 14-Seater matatu, arrested the driver for driving without clearance from the Transport Board (TLB).

Korir escorted the vehicle to Pangani Police Station for booking.Along the way, the driver made a call to whom he claimed was the owner of the vehicle.

“Along the way, the Driver made a call to whom he claimed was the owner of the vehicle. On arriving at Kariokor Roundabout, PC Abel Musati who was in full police uniform & armed with an AK 47 intercepted the vehicle and pulled his fellow officer out of the vehicle. He further ordered the driver to drive off as he fired one round to PC Korir but he missed the shot.” Read the statement in part.

The officer was later arrested and disarmed
