Raila proposes death penalty for corrupt officials
ODM party leader Raila Odinga has called on death penalty upon extreme corruption cases with government official.
It is well understood that in China, this is the norm and corruption is a rare breed of a crime.
Raila is of the opinion that Kenya needs the hangman to stop the run-away corruption.
On Wednesday, February 27 while opening the Pan-African Trade Unions Symposium in Nairobi, the former Prime Minister recommended that we borrow a leaf from China so as to fight this dragon – corruption.
“Every day we wake up to stories in the media of mega corruption scandals involving billions of shillings, some paid for projects that do not exist, and yet we do not have stronger mechanisms to deal with this challenge. In China it is difficult to survive as a corrupt person because the Chinese government executes corrupt individuals,” Raila said with reference to the KSh 21 billion Arror and Kimwarer dams scandal.
COTU Secretary General, Francis Atwoli, was of the same opinion and recommended death penalty for the corrupt individuals.
In China, human trafficking, drug smuggling and diversion of state-controlled drugs for illegal sale call for death penalty.
