President Kenyatta stops extra inspection at the port

It is a sigh of relief to small scale businesses as President Uhuru directed Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) and Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) to fast track inspection process at the port so as to stop the delays on clearance.

This was said by the President during the 56th Madaraka Day celebrations held at Narok Stadium.

He ordered the agencies to stop subjecting imported goods to double inspections and instead honor the pre-shipment inspection done by its appointed agents.

“Imported goods, therefore, should not be subjected to additional inspection at the Port of entry except for cases legitimately suspected not to conform to the set standards,” said President Kenyatta.
