Police officer arrested while soliciting bribe

A police officer was arrested on Monday while demanding bribe from an Advocate.

Samuel Mutachi an officer attached to Central Police Station had posed as DCI detective.

In a statement from DCI,Mr. Mutachi had demanded a bribe of Ksh 200,000 but the advocate paid Ksh 35,000.

“Police Constable Samuel MUTACHI, @PoliceKE based in Central P/Station was yesterday arrested for demanding for a bribe of Ksh.200K & receiving Ksh.35K from an ADVOCATE, after introducing himself as @DCI_Kenya Detective investigating a case of Forgery & making of a False Document. ” Read the statement in part.

Certificate of Appointment

DCI urged Kenyans to be vigilant on rogue officers posing as detectives. He advised Kenyans to request Certificate of Appointment from any officers they doubt.

“The @DCI_Kenya still urges members of the public to ALWAYS insist on being shown the Certificate of Appointment (C.o.A)whenever ANYONE purports to be a #DCI officer & if still in doubt, to ask for the Telephone number of their immediate boss to call and confirm the IDENTITY.” he added.
