Parent sue Moi Girls for suspending daughter for daydreaming

A parent has moved to court to sue Moi Girls School, Nairobi, for suspending his daughter from school for allegedly daydreaming.

In an affidavit seen by Citizen Digital the girl was daydreaming in class and when she woke she started shouting something that caused confusion in school.

β€œIt was alleged that the minor was daydreaming when she woke up to shouting by fellow students causing her great distress, shock and confusion, compelling her to leave the classroom,” read the affidavit in part.

The parent also revealed that her daughter was compelled to undergo spiritual counselling at CITAM church and also attend counselling a Amani Counselling Centre and Training Institute.

β€œOn 9th I took the minor to Amani Counselling Centre and Training Institute and after the first session the counselor recommended that the counselling be stopped as the minor was fit to go back to school,” he added.

The complainant argued that his daughter constitutional rights were infringed, to the extend that she was denied an opportunity to sit for the end of term exams.
