Oparanya: Am ready to lead Luhyas

Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has declared his readiness to be the Luhya kingpin.

Speaking at the burial of Malaha Isongo Makunga ward rep Lucas Radoli’s mother, Oparanya said his time to lead the Western region has come.

He accused senior politicians from the region for failing to champion electorates grievances saying they won’t be given any chance.

“I have given enough time to some leaders to lead this region but they have failed us. The time to move on is now, those leaders should not expect any more chances to lead,”

“I have all the credentials to lead the Luhya nation to national leadership. I am unstoppable.” he said.

This comes at a time when the BBI meeting for western region is set for 18th of January at Bukhungu stadium Kakamega.

The meeting has met resistance from a section of local leaders accusing COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli for using the meeting for his personal gains.

Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula accused Atwoli of working with strangers to decide the fate of Luhyas.

.“Atwoli sits with outsiders and says we go to Bukhungu to elect a Luhya leader? This is political conmanship with vested selfish gains and we cannot be party to it,” said the Bungoma senator.
