ODM Secretary General opens up on his detention on foreign land

ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has opened up about his detention at Robert Mugabe International Airport in Zimbabwe.

Sifuna was detained for few minutes by security officers at the airport after he landend in the country to attend a function organized by Zimbabwe’s opposition party.

The ODM boss recalls how he was taken to a small room within the airport to be interrogated about the event.

“They took me to a small room to ask me a few questions. I was a bit surprised because I was hoping to come to an open and democratic society that welcomes everybody regardless of who you’re coming to see.

The first question they asked me is ‘how do you know these MDC crooks?’ And I told them the MDC and my party ODM have a long history, since the times of Morgan Tsvangirayi,” Sifuna explained.

He was later released after police were satisfied he didn’t have intentions to create trouble.
