Meet first Kenyan to open Twitter account

Twitter is one of the most popular social media platform in Kenya with 641,000 monthly active users according to the latest report by Data Portal.

The app that was created on March 21, 2006, has gained momentum in the country. KOT have used the platform to be updated with current affairs and also to air their grievances.

KOT is a powerful platform that influence government decisions, kick out corrupt leaders out of office and also defends country supremacy online.


However, little is known about the first Kenyan to open a Twitter account. Kamuiri. D ( @kamuiri ) was the first Kenyan to open a Twitter account on 28th March 2007.

Titus by-then was doing a research on cyber security in Kenya and that’s how he ended up creating an account on the platform.

Kamuiri is a cyber security expert according to information provided on his timeline, “Cyber warfare\Forensics,Security Engineer, US-Cert CIRT Team, Infotech.”
