Kenyatta University Don harshly mourned

Kenyatta University fraternity is mourning the death of Prof. Andanje Mwisukha who passed away on Saturday morning.

Prof. Andanje, until his demise, served as the University registrar in charge of academics. His death was announced by KU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Paul K. Wainaina in a memo dated 16th January.

“We have learnt with profound sorrow the sudden death of Prof. Andanje Mwisukha the registrar Academic. Prof. Andanje passed on yesterday at 9:30pm while undergoing treatment at The Nairobi Hospital,” Read the Memo.

Prof. Andanje served the University as the chair of the electoral commission for Kenyatta University Student Association (KUSA) before being promoted to the Dean of Student.

He will be remembered for his strict adherence to the varsity rules and regulations that made him brush shoulders with a section of students. Those who have passed through hands said he believed in the saying of spare the rod and spoil the child.

His death announcement elicited a mixed reaction on KU Comrade forum, where a section of students praised him for the good job he did when discharging his duties in different capacities at the varsity. There is a section of those who believed he ruled with an iron fist especially on disciplinary matters.

In African culture, death was never celebrated as the deceased person was mourned in a respectful manner. He was showered with praise for his little deeds while still alive. The evils a person committed were rarely mentioned during the mourning period.
