JSC to recruit 20 Judges for the Environment and Land Court
The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) will next week start the recruitment of 20 new judges for the Environment and Land Court.
Speaking in Kirinyaga JSC vice chairperson Mercy Deche said that the process which will last for a period of three months will see the new judges help to ease the backlog of at least 20,867 pending cases.
Ms. Deche noted that they are a lot of cases that have been in court for up to five years without being determined due to lack of enough judges.
She also obsoverd that the commission is determined to have at least one court on each subcounty.
Deche said that some of the projects are 50-60% complete noting that enough budget is required to complete the projects and devolve justice system at grassroots.
