Is it end of the road for UoN VC Prof. Peter Mbithi?

University of Nairobi Vice Chancellor Prof Peter Mbithi was on Monday sent to compulsory leave.

The University Council came to the decision in order to pave way for the appointment of the new varsity head.

In a letter seen by Citizen digital, UoN council had referred Prof. Mbithi’s interest in reappointment for a second term to the Public Service Commission (PSC) in accordance with the University Act 2012.

“…the transient arrangement will subsist until a substantive (re)appointment of the Vice Chancellor is made as provided for by the law,” read the letter signed by Prof. Julia Ojiambo, the council Chairperson.

Prof. Mbithi took over leadership at the Prestigious institution from Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha who had served at the university for a decade.
