IEBC puts NASA to the chopping board with new revelations

Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has placed Raila Odinga’s led coalition, National Super Alliance (NASA), on the chopping board with revelation of server access before election results had been released.

During the hotly contested general election of August 2017, NASA stated that the ruling party, Jubilee, had accessed the IEBC server and rigged the elections in favour of President Uhuru Kenyatta. However, if the report released by the IEBC is anything to go by, NASA accessed the server 34 times while Jubilee 10 times.

NASA is said to have accessed the server through a John Walubengo while Jubilee did the same through a Davies Chirchir.

During the election petition, NASA had claimed that Davies Chirchir, a former IEBC official and technology expert who was by then a Jubilee member, had assisted the ruling party to rig the elections.

The report further highlights that it is not only the two top parties that accessed the electoral server but also the other contestants in the election.

UDP’s Ben Wafuko is said to have accessed the servers six times and Thirdway Alliance Bildad Kagai had five logins.
