I will fire more bosses – Governor Mike Sonko promises
Governor Mike Sonko has declared total war on corrupt individuals and cartels. He has stated that he is ready to fire more County Executive Committee members implicated in graft.
“Dismantling cartels Jeff is not a joke. I will admit I have been firing staff. If you do the right thing you will be my friend, you engage in corruption and laziness you will go home,” he said.
He also said that he did not force former CEC Janet Ouko to resign. He said that the CEC opted to resign after being questioned of money lost in his ministry.
“I do not have any ill motive against Janet; she was one the best ministers,” he said.
He stated that he will name one soon once he is done with consultations. However, he did not give any timelines.
He was quick to state of his development record. “So far we have done more than 87 roads at the sub-county level and are currently constructing four stadia that will meet FIFA standards. We are also upgrading the health facilities in Nairobi; we want the people of Nairobi to get good healthcare.”

Sonko rubbished claims that there are frictions between President Kenyatta and his Deputy. To him, the President and his Deputy constantly consult before making any decisions.
“I don’t think the DP is in the situation you are trying to mention. Some of the decisions the president makes he does in consultation with the DP. These other issues are sideshows,” he said.
He accused his colleague, Governor Waititu of smoking bhang and grabbing land.
“Waititu smokes a lot of bhang and is still smoking as the governor of Kiambu. I used to smoke with him when we were MPs but I stopped. He used to hide it in socks and smoking in the toilet,” he said.
