Humphrey Kariuki – Africa Spirits Ltd owner – is a citizen of Cyprus
Billionaire Humphrey Kariuki, the owner of Africa Spirits Limited (manufacturers of Bluemoon, Legend, et al), The Hub Mall among other multi-million businesses yesterday presented himself to DCI George Kinoti.
Mr. Kinoti was shocked to find out that Humphrey Kariuki is a dual-citizen of both Kenya and Cyprus. The billionaire presented himself after police sort to arrest him on allegations of tax evasion and being in possession of counterfeit products.
Our laws allow for dual citizenship but holders of dual citizenship must declare the same to the local immigration authorities.
The DCI thus stated that a charge against Mr. Kariuki for having failed to declare the same shall be raised.
