Huduma Number registration will go on – CS Matiang’i
Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has confirmed that the Huduma Number registration will continue as planned.
Speaking in Murang’a, the CS said that after the completion of the pilot project the government is ready to start the registration in 10, 000 sub locations countrywide.
“We have completed the pilot phase. We will roll out the NIIMS project on schedule and as planned,” said Matiang’i.
Matiang’i also revealed that they are at least five people employed at each sublocation to help in the registration process.
Interior Principal Secretary Karancha Kibicho during an interview in a local radio station said that the process is meant to clean the register. He said that the current government register has a lot of errors that needs to be cleaned up.
Kibicho also said that the Huduma Number will save Kenyans from struggling of having different identification numbers.
He also noted that after the process is done, the registration kits will be left at the Assistant Chiefs office for registration.
“When one is born he/she will be registered at the Assistant Chiefs office and the same applies when one dies hence accurate data.” Added the PS.
He also rubished claims that the process will be used to collect DNA samples, terming the claims as propaganda.
