GSU officer manning Wilson Airport shot dead
A General Service Unit (GSU) officer manning Wilson Airport was on Saturday shot dead by unknown people.
The GSU officer together with a colleague were attending to a distress call near the airport when he met his death.
The GSU constable has been identified as Stephene Mukangi. He was shot at close range and died at the scene before he was robbed his AK47 rifle.
His colleague also had his AK47 rifle robbed off but managed to escape alive with gunshot wound on the leg.
The colleague narrates that they were manning a watchtower when they were approached by two men dressed in jungle uniform similar to that of the police.
“They told the GSU officers they needed assistance from them at the scene where their car had developed mechanical problems. They claimed to be police officers,” said an officer aware of the incident.
As the GSU officers walked to the scene, two more men dressed in jungle uniform joint them, prompting a scuffle.
It is at this that one of the GSU officers was shot dead and the other escaped with leg injury.
