Thirteen French soldiers have been killed following a mid-air helicopter collision in Mali. Since the French intervention in the country in 2013, this is single biggest loss of their troops in Mali.

The accident occurred while the troops were engaging fighters who have staged a series of deadly attacks in Mali.
“The president announces with deep sadness the death of 13 French troops in Mali on the evening of Nov. 25, in an accident between their two helicopters during a combat mission against jihadists,” the statement on Tuesday said.
