Former MP nursing injuries after being assaulted by police officer

Former Gatundu North MP Clement Kung’u Waibara, is nursing injuries after being assaulted by a traffic police on Wednesday evening.

The former legislator had approached a traffic officer near the T-Mall roundabout at the junction of Lang’ata Road and Mbagathi Way to ask for directions.

The politician who was in company of his wife,had alight his vehicle to speak to the police officer, when he turned on him with slaps leaving Mr. Waibara with injuries.

“It was at night and I was heading from work towards Kenyatta National Hospital when I saw a police officer and decided to ask for directions. I stopped the car by the roadside and called the officer who was busy directing traffic but he did not hear,” narrated the politician.

Speaking to Daily Nation Waibara said that the officer could not lend him an ear to explain himself.

He has since received treatment and reported the matter at Lang’ata Police Station.
