Ford Kenya Governor in trouble for backing DP Ruto 2022 bid
Trans Nzoia Governor Patrick Khaemba is in trouble with his party leadership for supporting Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid.
Speaking in Saboti Constituency over the weekend, the Ford Kenya Governor revealed that all 14 Governors in Rift Valley have agreed to work together to support DP’s ambition.
Mr. Khaemba noted that he has weighed his option and William Ruto is the best candidate to replace Uhuru Kenyatta at State House.
“I was not in Jubilee. I belong to a house that is now full of smoke. I have weighed my options … though I have a bald head, I have a sharp brain.”
“I asked myself whether I should continue living in a house full of smoke or build another house. We, the 14 governors in Rift Valley, have agreed to work together this time round.” Said Khaemba.
Ford Kenya Secretary-General Eseli Simiyu, who spoke to Daily Nation said officials will meet soon to discuss the declaration by Mr. Khaemba and Likuyani MP Enoch Kibunguchy to support Dr. Ruto.
“The party will meet soon and make a decision on this. Any member who was elected under our party but wants to shift allegiance should quit and go for re-election because that is what the law says,” he told the Nation by phone.
Eseli said that it is wrong for the two to support another aspirant when their party leader Moses Wetangula will also be vying for presidency.
