Expired rice impounded in Kariobangi

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Tuesday raided a godown in Kariobangi,Nairobi impounding tonnes of expired rice.

Police arrested several suspect who were packing the rice while the owner of the godown managed to escape.

The suspect were repackaging ‘Amar’ and ‘Day to Day’ rice  into new bags under the name ‘Red Rose’ and ‘Peacock Parboil Five Star’.

Police have launched a manhunt for the owner of the godown while those arrested waits to be charged in court.

The raid was conducted by a multi-agency team, which included police and public health officials, following a tip off from members of the public.
