Embu University on spot over sexually transmitted grades
Ten lecturers at Embu University are being investigated on allegation of having sex with their students in exchange for favourable exam results.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Daniel Mugendi, has admitted that even some of the lecturers are said to have forced the students to procure abortions in event that they get pregnant.
The Vice Chancellor has stated that ten lecturers are on the spot for the same and shall appear before the disciplinary committee of Embu University.
It is said that the suspects even threatened their victims with dire consequences if they would ever disclose them.
“Many of these students have also earned marks transmitted sexually. I would tell the university staff, if you want wives, go to Chuka, Kirinyaga or Murang’a universities; we won’t have any issues with you. But as long as it is our students, we have an obligation — as Embu University’s administration — to take care of them,” said Prof. Mugendi.
The Vice Chancellor has urged the students who feel sexually harassed by their lecturers not to hesitate in reporting the same to the administration.
