Embakasi MP speaks after DCI impounded his wife’s car

Embakasi west Member of Parliament George Theuri has come out to clear the air after police impounded his wife car.

Police on Tuesday impounded a high end car belonging to Cynthia Wanjiru Gitonga, Theuri’s wife.

The youthful legislator admitted to have bought the car to his wife but distanced himself from tax evation allegations.

“The vehicle was bought from a showroom and prior to purchasing it, a search showed that everything was alright,”said Theuri.

Director of Criminal Investigations on Tuesday confirmed to have impounded two high end vehicles a Range Rover and Mercedes Benz one which belonged to Theuri’s wife.

The DCI noted that the vehicles were registered as semi trailers hence evaded to pay duty.

” Detectives yesterday confiscated two vehicles- one belonging to Ms. Cynthia Wanjiru Gitonga & another to Mr. John Mwangi. The vehicles were declared semi trailers hence evaded duty through an organized scheme that claims they were manufactured at a fictitious company in Mombasa.”Said the DCI.

The flamboyant politician also revealed that he purchased the vehicle in 2018 as a birthday gift to his wife.
