Tanzania’s opposition leader,Edward Lowassa, joins the ruling party
Tanzania has now experienced a wake of the handshake, as opposition leader Edward Lowassa has joint the ruling party Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM).
Edward Lowassa has ditched Chama cha Demokrasia na Mapinduzi (Chadema) and rejoined CCM of President Magufuli.
Mr. Lowassa is the former Prime Minister and was a member of CCM party until 2015 when he departed the party after having been left out of the list of potential Presidential candidates.
President Magufuli welcomed him back and stated that he looks forward to building the nation with him.
Political analysts look at this move as a strategy by President Magufuli to consolidate votes ahead of the 2020 elections where he will be seeking his second and final term.
