DP Ruto- BBI consultative meetings waste of money
Deputy President William Ruto on Friday castigated Building Bridges Initiative consultative meetings as a waste of taxpayers money.
Speaking in Vihiga County, DP Ruto said politicians have backtracked from the earlier plan for every Kenyan to have a copy of the recommendation and read for themselves.
He accused politicians of hijacking the process and try to make a decision for Kenyans.
“Sisi tulikubaliana mambo ya BBI tutafute copies za kutosha ili wanchi wajisomee na wajitolee uamiuzi. Ni lini ilibadilika sasa tunaambiwa ni viongozi wa vyama wanataka kusoma na kuamulia wananchi?,”
“Nani amepinga BBI? Sasa kama kila Mkenya amekubali mambo ya BBI, sasa hii campaign yote inafanywa ni ya nini, ama ni kutafuta njia ya kufuja pesa za serikali,” he said.

This comes at a time when the first consultative meeting for Nyanza region was held in Kissi county with majority of ODM leaders and President Uhuru team attending.
Pro Ruto team that supports his 2022 presidential bid late last year said they were ready to support proposed amendments to the Constitution, whether through Parliament or a referendum.
“We fully support the BBI report, especially on matters of agriculture and livestock, inclusivity and unity in diversity, security, socio-economic development and opportunities for the youth,” stated resolutions read by Kajiado South MP Katoo ole Metito.
