Defiant Aisha Jumwa tells off Raila
Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa has refused to take up the option of apologizing as a precondition before her party, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) may reconsider the decision to expel her from the party.
This follows a statement by ODM Leader Raila Odinga who had stated that should Aisha Jumwa apologize like her Msambweni counterpart, Suleiman Dori, she will be forgiven.
Kila mtoto akiomba msahamaha anasamehewa. Juzi kwa chama yetu Dori alilia situlimsamehea. Ata Aisha tulisema akikuja tuketi chini naalie tutaangalia maneno yake. Sisi kama wanachungwa tuko pamoja,” said Raila.
On her end, Ms. Jumwa dismissed the olive branch and insisted that her expulsion from the party was illegal.

“I have heard Raila Odinga saying that if I appear before the party they will forgive me… I want to tell him that what I told them before the National Executive Council that remains my position. Let them go back to the records,” said Jumwa.
The MP found herself in all these troubles when she openly supported Deputy President (DP) William Ruto’s Presidential bid come 2022. DP Ruto is of Jubilee Party, which is different from Jumwa’s ODM party
Jumwa remains defiant and moved to court to challenge the decision of her party. In the event that she fails in court, Malindi voters will have to go back to the ballot.
In the meantime, a Nairobi court has barred the orders expelling Ms. Jumwa till 7th May 2019 when the case will be heard.
