DCI raids NTSA, arrests top officials

Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officials have raided National Transport Services Authority (NTSA) offices and arrested top officials led by Jacklin Githinji, Director of Registration and Licensing.

It is said that in a span of 24 hours, another top officer, Musembi, having been arrested first. Information we have indicates that Musembi gave the fake registration documents for the vehicles used during the DusitD2 Attack.

The investigations into the fake registration documents began after the DusitD2 attack.

NTSA doesn’t report to board or the ministry, hence, kind of perceived as a law unto itself.

Another loophole with NTSA is with motorbike registration. The number plates are sold to dealers at Ksh 1,000 and not sold directly to the motorbike owner. In such a case, NTSA keeps the records of the dealers and not the one of the motorbike owner hence making it almost impossible to track a motorbike owner in future.
