Court prosecutor jailed for two years for soliciting bribe

James Naburuk Sichangi a prosecutor at Kitale law courts have been jailed for two years for soliciting Ksh 60,000 bribe.

Eldoret Chief Magistrate Charles Obulutsa in his ruling,said that Sichangi’s actions was against Ethics and Economic Crime Act.

Obultsa also observed that the former prosecutor action exposed the National police and the office of Director of Public Prosecutor to public ridicule and contempt.

Mr. Sichangi was also fined Ksh 200,000 for acting against the Ethics and Economic crime act.

Sichangi, on November 15, 2014, solicited for a bribe of Ksh60,000 from Ms Joyce Wanjiku after which the matter was reported at Eldoret EACC’s office.

A trap was laid and Mr. Sichangi was arrested soliciting the bribe.
