CJ Maraga responds to allegations of corruption at Supreme Court
After the ruling on Wajir Governor’s petition case, Senior Counsel Ahmednassir Abdullahi came up with allegation that left an egg on Chief Justice (CJ) Maraga’s face after stating that Judge Mohammed Ibrahim had been bribed.
There was so much concern that the Chief Justice (CJ) did not take up the matter by giving a public response on the same, however, that was not to last long as today CJ Maraga has given his response.
As the Chief Justice was addressing guests during the ‘State of Judiciary’ forum and stated that anyone with information on graft at the Supreme Court should file a petition with evidence to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
Addressing Senior Counsel Abdullahi directly, he assured him that the JSC will take stern action against the Supreme Court judges if proven to be corrupt.
“Senior Counsel, Ahmednasir Abdullahi publicly claimed that some judges were bribed to decide the Wajir Gubernatorial position. I challenge him to file a petition and I assure him the JSC will take stern and appropriate action with evidence,” stated CJ Maraga.
