CJ David Maraga receives backlash from Kenyans for attending a political rally
Chief Justice David Maraga has been on the receiving end from Kenyans for having attended a political rally in Kisii County that was graced by President Uhuru Kenyatta, DP William Ruto and opposition leader Raila Odinga.
On Wednesday, the President, his deputy and opposition leader launched new facilities at Kisii referral hospital in which the CJ David Maraga attended.
As if that wasn’t enough, he went ahead to attend a political rally with the Executives.
Among the leading legal brains in the nation and Kenyans alike, have come out, ups in arms against what the Chief Justice did.
Senator James Orengo stated: “There is no day in the history of this country that a CJ attended a political event. In terms of decorum, it is a very bad manners.”
Lawyer Nelson Havi said, “It is going to be difficult for CJ David Maraga to extricate himself from the public perception that he has been taken hostage by the Executive or has willingly joined it. A CJ cannot be doing this. Not under The Constitution of Kenya, 2010.”
