Reports have emerged that Nairobi county did not have an alternative, thus leading to extension of the contract, but only for one month.
Web Tribe Limited was to disable its services on Sunday 7th April at midnight.
“At that time, WebTribe (JamboPay) will be unable to carry out any transactions for the county. For the avoidance of doubt, all services including, but not limited to, payments and enforcement, will be disabled after April 7, 2019,” CEO Danson Muchemi said in a letter addressed to acting county secretary Pauline Kahiga.
It is also said the Web Tribe Limited demanded the settlement of Kes 60 million debt owed to it by the city council.
The firm was contracted in April 2014 with a five year contract to solve the revenue collection problems which was costing the city council billions of shillings.
