Census: We chased the census official away – Yvonne Okwara

Citizen TV’s news anchor, Yvonne Okwara, on Thursday revealed that she chased away Census officials who failed to identity themselves.

Speaking on Thursday, during her prime time news bulletin, Okwara disclosed that the team that visited her neighborhood had nothing to show that they were census officials.

“The ones who came to my neighborhood didn’t have this (a reflector jacket). In fact, I can say, and my neighbors are watching on television, we chased them away because we had no idea who they were,” she stated.

Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) Director in charge of Population and Social Statistics, Macdonald Obudho speaking during an interview with Yvonne noted that all official will be in orange reflector jackets and badges.

“The census staff will also wear orange and maroon reflector jackets with the government, KNBS and census logo. At the back of the jackets, will be the census motto ‘Jitokeze Uhesabike’.

Census will kick off on 24th of August across the country.
