Blow to Matiang’i as court bars him from interfering with bar business
Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i suffered a huge blow on fight against alcohol and drug abuse after a Kirinyaga court barred from raiding, closing or interfering with bar businesses in Kirinyaga County.
High Court Judge Lucy Gitari in her ruling, she said the matter raised by the complainants raises weighty matters which needs to be ventilated.
Judge Gitari also issued an order barring Interior PS Karanja Kibicho or his agents from arresting and closing bars in the county until the matter is heard and determined.
Bar Owners Association had moved to court challenging the power of the police and Interior Ministry in the management of liquor business in the country.
