Big blow for Waititu as court rules on Ksh 100 million land case

Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu on Thursday suffered a big blow after the Ombudsman ruled that he illegally transferred a plot of land owned by Cicilia Mbugua.

The Ombudsman in its finding said that Waititu unlawfully allocated the parcel of land belonging to Ms Mbugua who is a widow to Esther Nyatu.

The Ombudsman Chairperson Florence Kajuju said that apart from the revocation of the transfer, the matter would also be forwarded to the DPP for Waititu to be criminally prosecuted.

“We will hand over our report to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations. We are not allowed to prosecute. We follow our investigations and if we find a criminal element then we forward the same to the relevant offices,” Ms Kajuju.

The embattled Governor has been in and out of court facing corruption charges. He was also barred from accessing his office by court.
