Activist Phyllis Omido raised false alarm – Kilifi police
Kilifi police on Saturday night grilled Environmentalist and Human Activist, Phyllis Omido, after raising an alarm on her Facebook account of having been attacked by gunmen at her home.
Acting Kilifi Police Commander Kennedy Osando stated that those were false alarms from Ms. Omido and that the said gunmen and gunshots were angry manual labourers who were pelting her neighbour’s gate with stones demanding for their pay.
“There were no live bullets that had been fired. We now want to know why she decided to say that it was her home which was under attack and by armed men yet the youth were even at the neighbour’s house… For her case (Ms Omido) we will not let it to go just like that. You cannot raise alarm without facts,” said the acting Police Commander.
Here post on her social media account definitely raised false fear and alarm that she might have been targeted especially for her activism work.
Phyllis Omido later posted on her Facebook account of the reality in the situation and apologized for the false alarm.
