Now activists have had to take to the streets and social media platforms to force the government to change their directive.

A week ago, activist Boniface Mwangi together with Haki Africa and Mombasa residents took to the streets to oppose the monopoly of SGR in transportation of cargo, which has render most truck drivers jobless.

He alleged that the monopolization of SGR is by large and wide supported by both Governor Ali Hassan Joho and Opposition Leader Raila Odinga who were overwhelmingly voted for by Mombasa voters.
