A manufacturing company to be launched in West Pokot
Simba Cement Company is set to open a manufacturing plant in West Pokot County.
The project that was set to start in 2010 in Ortum, West Pokot County will now take 18 months to be completed.
Simba Cement was able to secure the project after the initial contractor Cemtech Company failed to commence the project.
Simba Cement started with holding public participation in the area to get views of the residents Sebits area where the plant will be based.
Competition Authority of Kenya which facilitated the project takeover by Simba Cement told KBC said that the move all not disrupt the market.
“Competition Authority of Kenya which okayed the acquisition says the move which is unlikely to disrupt the market is also backed by Cemtech’s decade-long dormancy and consistence search for a strategic partner to finance construction of a cement plant.” Posted KBC.
West Pokot which was marginalized for long will now witness one of the biggest factory in the region that will sit on over 500 acres of land.
