A form 2 student commits suicide

A  Form 2 student at Bishop Gatimu Ngandu Girls High School in Nyeri County committed suicide on Sunday morning.

The deceased is said to have taken her life using a bedsheet after receiving pressure from his father to perform well academically.

Mathira West Deputy County Commissioner Charles Monari who confirmed the incident said the body of the 19-year-old girl, Joan Mumbi, was found hanging in the dormitory.

Mr. Monari noted that from a suicide note found in her desk, Mumbai cited family challenges as one of the main reason she committed suicide.

The girl’s body was taken to Karatina Hospital mortuary as investigations into the incident continue.
